The 1/4 connection looks similar to the other widely used 3.5mm connector or 1/8 inch connection, but is more often found on professional equipment more than home use. Unfortunately, VGA is slightly outdated due to HDMI, but it is still widely used and provides great signal strength. This is our panel mount VGA extension cable. Hello, and welcome to Show Me Cables. Today we’ll be taking a look at VGA cables. VGA is a very common video signal found on many computers and projectors. It stands for Video Graphics Array, but does knowing that really tell you anything? I didn’t think so. VGA is a video only signal, meaning no audio. Unfortunately, VGA is slightly outdated due to HDMI, but it is still widely used and provides great signal strength. We carry a variety of VGA cable types including: Premium, Standard, Angled, Low Profile, Panel Mount, and VGA with Audio. Now I know what you’re thinking. VGA doesn’t carry audio. And you’re right. Welcome to Show Me Cables. Today we’ll be taking a look at the commonly used and often confusing DIN connectors. This is the 7 Pin Mini DIN male solder connector. To install, you will need the following items: low voltage cable, wire strippers, solder and soldering iron and the DIN connector. Start by inserting the plastic boot over the jacket. Measure how far you will need to strip back the jacket by holding the cable up against the base of the connector. Then, strip the cable jacket using the wire strippers. For this example, we are using Cat5e cable. You will also need to strip the individual conductors. Trim off any additional conductors, if needed. Now comes the hard part. Soldering. If you are new to soldering, it is recommended to find a someone who is more experienced for best results. There are 7 solder points on the connector, corresponding to the pins at the front of the connector. Be aware, there is not a standard wiring for DIN connectors and the wiring can widely vary between
