RJ12 Products from ShowMeCables
RJ12 is the type of connector used to connect a telephone wall jack to a phone. Each RJ12 connector contains six metal pins, each connected to one of the six smaller wires inside the main cable. There are two different pinouts (wiring schemes) for RJ12, straight and reverse. Straight pinouts are used to send data (like a fax machine). Reverse pinouts are used to send voice communications (like phone calls). RJ12 is the same size as RJ11, although RJ11 is older and only uses four pins instead of six.
