ICC Low-Profile Surface Mounting Box - Single Gang - White

The ICC Low-Profile Mounting Box is perfect for running cable through raceway fittings and protecting the cable from damage. The ICC Mounting Box is a surface mounted solution attached to the wall with screws or a sticky mounting pad. The low-profile style allows for a less noticeable mount and keeps the cable closer to the wall. Run a cable through the top bottom or rear and cover with a personalized Wall Plate.

PROS: The product works really well; Super fast
    CONS: None specified
I used these boxes to hold banana plug plates for speaker connections for a 7.2 surround system and they worked great. We were having new carpet installed and thought it the perfect time to wire up the room for 7.2 sound surround. Previously we just ran the wire under the couch, etc. to the back speakers. With new carpeting we took the opportunity to hire the wires under the carpet. I ran the wire around the edge of the room on the floor next to the carpet tacking strips and had planned to drill holes in the base board, then feed the wire up into the wall and attach to an in wall speaker plate. But that idea fizzled once I realized I hit concrete at the base of the baseboard and I wasn’t into carving up the wall to string wire. Luckily I found these boxes. Other boxes were deeper and I knew they would really stand out but these are a low profile meaning the depth is less noticeable and they worked great for this application. I used white duct tape to cover the wire to the box (same color as the base boards) and mounted the boxes on top of the base board A great solution for the poor man's surround system in a carpeted room.

Q: What is the difference between a Junction Box and a Mounting box?

A: A junction box is in two pieces for a more flexible installation, while a mounting box is in one piece.

Q: What is the difference between an Old-Work Box and a New-Work Box?

A:  Old-Work boxes are designed to be installed after drywall has been hung. New-Work boxes are used for new construction boxes or applications where mounting directly to studs or joists is possible.
