The converts does work. however my laptops setup does not accommodate as I expected. None of the display settings allow me to duplicate laptop & pc. I can project but not duplicate. probably me or the laptops functionality. wish I had a user manual or some good instructions. thought it would be plug and play. not so. tried on both my Acer and Toshiba.

Salespeople at the Big Box electronics store never heard of a device like this, and told me my choices were to buy a new PC or add a HDMI port and new video card to my existing PC. I searched the internet and found exactly what I needed at a reasonable price.

These types of converters are directional so you should always be aware of the ‘TO’. This converter is an excellent way to connect a device (such as a laptop) with a VGA output TO a display with an HDMI input. It will not work the other way around. The converter connects directly into the VGA output on your source equipment. The red USB connector is a convenient way to power the converter (no need for a wall plug!). The optional 3.5mm connector can be used to incorporate sound into the HDMI output from the converter. Then you simply run an HDMI cable to your signal and you're good to go! The converter is completely plug and play so there is no need for installing drivers or complex settings configurations.

Q: Why do I need a converter to convert to or from HDMI?

A: HDMI is a digital signal. In order to change the signal type to an analog signal, active processing is needed.

Q: My new TV only has optical audio out. My older audio receiver only has red and white RCA inputs. What product do I need to connect these devices together?

A: To make that connection you will need a digital audio to analog audio converter. You can find that product here.

Q:Will a converter improve my picture quality?

A: No, a converter will only change the signal type. The signal quality will be only as good as the input device.
