Had 4 - 25' hand set coil cords that had bad ends due to over extension (pulling on the hand set beyond it's limits). Replaced all the ends. Thy all work just fine and I will not have to spend $6-9 every time one fails. You need the cutting crimping tool to use these connectors.

I made a coil cord for my headphones that is a bit unusual. Using telephone cables, I have a headphone coil cord that allows 12' movement around the studio.

Q: What is the difference between an RJ11 and an RJ12 connector?

A: Both connectors are the same size and appear the same. However, looking at the contacts an RJ11 will only have 4 contacts. An RJ12 will have 6 contacts.

Q: What are the terms 4P4C, 6P4C and 6P6C referring to?

A:

4P4C: 4 Position 4 Conductor ( RJ22) - used for Telephone Handset cables.

6P4C: 6 Position 4 Conductor (RJ11) - used for ADSL, telephone, and modem cables.

6P6C: 6 Position 6 Conductor (RJ12) - used in System phones.

Q: How do I tell if a plug accepts flat or round cable?

A: Looking at the back of the plug where the cable would insert it will either have an oval shape or a rectangular shape. The rectangular shape accepts flat cable. The oval shape accepts round cable.

Q: How do I wire these plugs?

A: Please see the resource tab for a diagram.

Q: Which pinout should I use use to attach a connector?

A: Newer phones can use a straight or reverse pinned line cord. If you’re unsure of the age of your phone a reverse pinned cord will work with any age phone.
