PROS: The product works really well; Super fast
    CONS: None specified
I got this, the 9 conductor cable (Part# - 87-409-126 GY), and DB9 female connector (Part# - 1106) to make a 20ft serial cable to go from my PC to my Alesis QS 7.1 as it offers lower latency than a MIDI to USB adapter. The 8-pin Mini-DIN/Serial cables are pretty rare and adapters don't make for a clean install. I'm no pro as soldering, electronics, or part identification but I think this may be labeled incorrectly as a solder connector when I believe it is a crimp connector. The reason I say this is other solder connectors of the same type of rear pins are labeled as crimp. The rear pins usually have solder cups and these don't. I would recommend to get the appropriate size heat shrink tube for each wire to prevent accident shorting. Other than that I received everything faster than I was expecting. I ordered on a Saturday and got it on Wednesday through USPS. Some of the other places I looked at ordering from had a 2 week+ delay as many place don't carry it in stock.

    PROS: great quality
    CONS: none
Used to connect my ham radio to my computer for computer control of the radio. Could not find a solder type 8 pin connector locally.

Q: How are Mini DIN Connectors labeled?

A: Mini DIN Connectors are numbered from left to right bottom row to top row. The lower left will always be Pin 1 and the upper right will always be the highest pin number.

Q: What are Mini DIN Connectors used for?

A: Mini DIN Connectors are most commonly used for electronic devices such as computers, peripherals, and video equipment.

Q: What cables are used with DIN Connectors?

A: Din connectors are commonly used with multi-conductor cables with at least one conductor per pin on the connector.

Q: How do I attach a DIN connector to my cable?

A: In order to attach a DIN connector to a cable you must solder each pin to its respective conductor.

Q: How do I prevent melting the plastic in the connector during soldering?

A: When soldering a DIN connector avoid heating the untinned wire and connector point and applying the solder all at once. This will cause melting and frustration. Tinning the wire ends and allowing them to cool before you tin the connector will prevent melting and allow you to attach the wire correctly.
