This shielded Cat6a RJ45 modular connector is designed to terminate solid or stranded cat6 network cable. The connector contains two metal "teeth" that hold the wire in place giving a reliable connection. Easy to terminate, these connectors are useful for creating custom-length patch cables from bulk cable. The pinout for these connectors can be either TIA/EIA 568 or 568B.

PROS: The product gets the job done; Super fast
    CONS: None specified
Needed these for some cable that I went a little overboard with (didn't need 23awg solid strand shielded) and couldn't find anything that would work locally. These worked well. Big enough slots to handle the over-sized wiring. Was not used the the up-down configuration but got it figured out so not really a con. The only con I can think of was the clamp that is supposed to hold the cable that comes out the bottom and maybe keep it stable. It was a little difficult to get it clamped shut without a lot of movement of the plug and it made getting the strain relief boot tough to get on. You will also need a special crimp tool or at least a different one than I have. I had to flip it around so the bottom of the plug did not get crushed badly. It took about three tries for me to get a working cable but that was probably just me as I have never used this type of plug and am not a professional installer. Other than those cons (which really weren't bad) these worked great!

PROS: The product works really well; Super fast
    CONS: None specified
I have some shielded cat 6 I used these connectors for, and even with the lower AWG (thicker wire) it was a snap to use this connector. I would recommend these in a heartbeat, and will use them for any future needs. (Used to make a 100ft hdbaset cable)

What is an RJ45 connector used for?

An RJ45, also named 8P8C connector is most commonly used in network and telecommunication applications. It can also be used for other data type communications, such as serial.

What is the difference between a solid and stranded connector?

A solid RJ45 connector has 3 teeth that pinch the solid wire to ensure good contact. A stranded RJ45 connector contains 2 teeth that bite the strands to hold the wire in place. Stranded is typically used when you are making your own patch cables.
