Solid Cat6 Ethernet cable is the most popular cable for long, stationary runs, such as in a home or office network. While solid conductor cable is not as flexible as those with stranded conductors, it provides better performance over longer distances. This bulk cable in an easy-pull box can be measured and cut to exact distances, then terminated to a connector, jack, or patch panel. Cat6 is certified for gigabit Ethernet.

We purchased CAT6 cabling from other vendors in the past and have been completely unsatisified with the quality of the product. We decided to purchased from ShowMeCables and the product we received from them was great! The cable didn't knot up, came out of the box with ease and had a durable shealth.

This will be for new construction home network. This cable has a small plastic strip in the middle of the twisted pairs, so every pair will have the perfect twist all the way of each run.

I am rewiring my whole house with Internet, phone, TV, and security cameras since the house is totally time to do it is now. I am trying to color code all the cables so I know which is which, easier setup in the basement. I am setting up structured wiring. I love that this is actually 600 mhz ... 1G network will be better suited with this then the cat5E cables. And it came from m

Q: What is the maximum length for a Cat6 cable?

A: The maximum length for a Cat6 cable run is 100 meters (328 feet). If longer runs are required, the use of active hardware such as a repeater or switch is necessary.

Q: What is the difference between solid and stranded cable?

A: Solid Cat6 is a 4-pair cable. Within each of the 8 individual wires there is a solid piece of wire covered by a PVC jacket. Because of the solid core of these cables they will be more rigid than stranded cable, but can carry a stronger signal than stranded wire. Solid cable also has the ability to be punched down in to jacks, patch panels, and 66 blocks.

Stranded Cat6 is a 4-pair cable as well. Within each of the 8 individual wires there are multiple tiny stands of smaller gauge wire that are held together by a PVC jacket. Because this cable is made with smaller strands of cable it is more flexible than solid core wire. Stranded Cat6 is typically use for short patch cables. Stranded wire cannot be punched down.

Q: What is shielded Cat6 cable?

A: Shielded Cat6 cable is used for increased protection from interference and crosstalk. It is typically used in electrical noisy environments. Common sources of interference are radio towers, high-powered electrical conduit, fluorescent lighting, or any other device emitting electro-magnetic or radio frequency signals.

Q: What’s the difference between the UL and ETL listed Marks?

A: Both marks demonstrate that the product that bears it has met the minimum requirements of widely accepted product safety standards as determined through the independent testing of a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). The only real difference between the Marks is in the service, and services, of the testing laboratory behind them.

Both the ETL and UL Listed Marks are recognized by local inspectors and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) throughout North America and also in some areas of South America.

Q: What is a flooded cable?

A: Flooded Cat6 cable uses a water blocking gel to protect the cable from water infiltration, even if the cable has a minor cut in the outer jacket. Flooded cable is typically used for direct burial outdoor applications.

Q: Will our Cat6 cable support Power over Ethernet (POE)?

A: Yes, all of our Cat6 will support Power over Ethernet.

Q: What does plenum rated mean?

A: Plenum (CMP) is a rating that is given to cables that have passed a stringent burn test and are able to be run through plenum air spaces. Plenum air spaces include drop ceilings and non-ducted HVAC air returns.
