This cat6 RJ45 modular connector is designed to terminate solid or stranded cat6 network cable. The connector contains three metal "teeth" that hold the wire in place giving a reliable connection. PROS: The product gets the job done; Super fast
    CONS: None specified
I very much dislike the off center pathway to the connectors in these plugs. I have only tried with stranded cable, it might be different with solid, but with every other wire going up then down in the plug it causes the wires to slip and slide all over losing whatever color combination you use for your cables. There is no way to accurately see what you are doing once you start feeding the line in, as soon as you let go of the line to push the rest in everything gets jumbled inside. I have been terminating cables for around 10 years now and these plugs are by far the worst I have ever used...even worse than the plugs with the inserts (EEECK!). I wish I had payed more attention to the picture and realized it wasnt a straight shot to the connectors like 95% of plugs are. Once you finally get it you can sort of tell its correct, but you absolutely need to rely on a cable tester to make sure everything is in order since there is very little viewing space. Would not recommend, will not buy again.

The product worked well. Took me a while to figure it out since I have never crimped cat cable them before but once I got a hang of it, I was able to use them.

What is an RJ45 connector used for?

An RJ45, also named 8P8C connector is most commonly used in network and telecommunication applications. It can also be used for other data type communications, such as serial.

What is the difference between a solid and stranded connector?

A solid RJ45 connector has 3 teeth that pinch the solid wire to ensure good contact. A stranded RJ45 connector contains 2 teeth that bite the strands to hold the wire in place. Stranded is typically used when you are making your own patch cables.
