Bulk speaker wire can be used for creating custom-length speaker patch cables or for cable runs in a home or business. Our professional-grade speaker wire is comprised of oxygen-free copper conductors, ensuring that it delivers audio signals with the highest fidelity. The 12 AWG speaker cable is best suited for long runs. The thickness of the conductors ensures minimal signal loss over the distance but makes the cable less flexible and more troublesome to terminate than thinner gauge wire.

  • 12 AWG Bare Copper Conductor
  • 2 Conductors
  • 100% Overall Foil Shield
  • CL-rated Clear PVC Jacket
  • 99.99% Pure Oxygen-Free Copper Conductors
  • Max Continuous Length: 1000 FT

Please note: All products that are bought per foot are non-returnable.

Any amount of cable you order above the maximum continuous length of 1000 FT will be sent in separate pieces.

Product used in a family entertainment business. Needed quality, shielded wire for audio installation. Product worked perfectly!

What does 12/2 (or 14/2 or 14/4) mean?

This is standard nomenclature for differentiating speaker wire. The first number, 12 in this example, is the AWG or wire gauge of the cable. The second number, 2, is the number of conductors.

What is AWG?

AWG is the gauge size and denotes the thickness of the cable. The lower the gauge, the thicker the cable. AWG stands for "American Wire Gauge" and is a standardized wire gauge system used throughout the industry.

When would I use one gauge size of speaker wire over another?

The main consideration when choosing speaker wire should be the distance of the run. Longer runs require thicker conductor (lower AWG numbers) to make sure the signal does not degrade over the distance. On the other hand, a thicker conductor cable will be less flexible, more expensive, and potentially more difficult to terminate. Here are some rough guidelines:

Distance AWG
25 Feet or Less 18+
25-50 Feet 16
50-75 Feet 14
75 Feet or more 12 or less
