PROS: The product works really well; Super fast
    CONS: None specified
I llove this particular 2-line wire because the insulation is clear and the wire is 2 different colors. It gives me ease of mind simply because I can have ANYONE follow my directions, even if they don't know basic electrical. I can tell them "The copper colored wire always goes to the PLUS, and the silver goes to the MINUS" and they get the job done. I dont have to worry about the 2 wires looking similar enough that they get confused. Good quality, simplicity in design, ease of use, and thank god for that! Great product!

What does 12/2 (or 14/2 or 14/4) mean?

This is standard nomenclature for differentiating speaker wire. The first number, 12 in this example, is the AWG or wire gauge of the cable. The second number, 2, is the number of conductors.

What is AWG?

AWG is the gauge size and denotes the thickness of the cable. The lower the gauge, the thicker the cable. AWG stands for "American Wire Gauge" and is a standardized wire gauge system used throughout the industry.

When would I use one gauge size of speaker wire over another?

The main consideration when choosing speaker wire should be the distance of the run. Longer runs require thicker conductor (lower AWG numbers) to make sure the signal does not degrade over the distance. On the other hand, a thicker conductor cable will be less flexible, more expensive, and potentially more difficult to terminate. Here are some rough guidelines:

Distance AWG
25 Feet or Less 18+
25-50 Feet 16
50-75 Feet 14
75 Feet or more 12 or less
