RS-232 multiconductor cable is used to create serial patch cables for a wide variety of applications, usually for computer peripherals. RS-232 is a precursor to USB and is used for many of the same devices, such as printers, as well as modems. RS-232 is also commonly used for sophisticated machinery in laboratories, automated manufacturing plants, and other hi-tech environments.

PROS: The product works really well; Super fast
    CONS: None specified
This cable was exactly what I needed, solved my problem of a broken VGA cable and was easier than splicing a shielded cable. I did not measure the cable but I know it was more than I ordered allowing me some rooms to work with it. Will return for future needs. Thanks!

    CONS: None specified
I ordered a 15' piece of 15-conductor cable for a project I am working on. Cable is excellent quality, very flexible, foil shielded, WITH a drain wire. The individual 26 AWG wires stripped cleanly. No problems at all, this product works just as expected.
Which connector should I use for these cables?

Serial cables can use a wide variety of connectors. D-Sub connectors are standard for RS-232 applications. The application will determine the connector profile and pinout. In general, the connector will have an equal or greater number of conductor spaces than the cable. For example, a 9-conductor cable will work with a DB9, DB15, or DB37 connector, but a 25-conductor cable would typically be used with a only a DB25 or DB37 connector--not a DB9 connector.
